Anthony Amni, AWS Indonesia Country Manager: A Promise I Say Was Made and What I Can Show

Header illustration: record on Anthony Amni, aws indonesia, country manager

Anthony Amni leads AWS in Indonesia. In 2023 I worked in AWS Startup Global, not AWS Indonesia. This post records what I say he promised and what I can and cannot show.

This article does not claim that Anthony Amni decided or approved my dismissal. It records a promise I say was made to me and the fact that I was not in his reporting line.

This is my account and my opinion. It is not a finding by any court, regulator or employer. The full list is in the original essay.

Scope and identity note

  • Who: the person whose public LinkedIn card reads "Anthony Amni", Country Manager, Jakarta, with AWS and Purdue Krannert listed.
  • Sources: a logged-out LinkedIn screenshot, my own memory and my own earlier open letter. I show no message or recording of the promise here.
  • Relationship: my own sentence in the hub essay says I was part of the AWS Startup Global team, not AWS Indonesia.

What I observed

  1. In the hub essay I wrote that he did not keep his promise to connect me with ASEAN teams, after giving words of affirmation.
  2. I wrote that I was dismissed even though I was not under his management.
  3. I have written elsewhere about silence from AWS leadership after my legal notices. That is covered in my open letter on leadership principles.

Shown versus not shown: what Anthony Amni's public profile shows and what I cannot say

What the record shows

  • The profile card shows his title and employer, which is a public fact about his role.
  • My own statements show what I claim. They are not corroborated by a document in this article.

What I cannot say

  • That a promise was made. I show no message, recording or witness here.
  • That he had any part in the dismissal. If I was outside his team, the decision may have sat elsewhere.
  • That he ignored me on purpose. I do not know his reasons.
  • That the remarks I call "affirmations" were meant as commitments rather than politeness.

Where I am probably wrong

A country manager can offer encouragement without meaning a formal commitment, and I may have read more into friendly words than was meant. I also do not know what happened inside AWS after he spoke to me.

Right of reply and correction policy

Anthony Amni is invited to send a response, correction or added context. A substantive response may be published alongside this article, subject to reasonable editing for privacy, safety and relevance. If reliable evidence shows that any factual statement here is wrong, or that the identification is mistaken, I will correct it promptly and note the change. Requests for removal of personal data will be considered in good faith.
