Amazon Web Services Indonesia, Institut Teknologi Bandung & Associated Defendants
Multi-Jurisdiction Legal Analysis · June 2026
Victim / Plaintiff: Rahmat Wibowo Primary Defendants: (1) PT Amazon Web Services Indonesia · (2) Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) · (3) AWS-Branded Forum Accounts · (4) IT Bandung Community Accounts · (5) Individual Threatening Actor Jurisdictions: Indonesia (Primary) · Singapore (POHA Cyberbullying) · Malaysia (CMA Cyberbullying) Legal Bases: KUHP (UU 1/2023) · KUH Perdata · UU Pendidikan Tinggi · Singapore POHA 2014 (as amended 2021) · Malaysia CMA 1998 (as amended 2025) Total Violations Identified: 12 articles across 5 laws and 3 jurisdictions
Executive Summary
This report analyzes one of the most severe documented institutional defamation and coordinated cyberbullying cases involving a major multinational technology company and a leading Indonesian university. The victim, Rahmat Wibowo, suffered cascading harm resulting from three overlapping incidents:
1. Wrongful Termination (Indonesia — AWS, September 2023): Rahmat was dismissed by PT Amazon Web Services Indonesia during his probation period (1.5 months into employment) while traveling in Singapore on a self-funded tourist visit. The termination — carried out by HR Manager Dian Hamama via written notice dated September 14, 2023 — cited a Medium article he published mentioning his job title "Associate Solutions Architect @ AWS." This was a trivial disclosure that could have been resolved with a simple edit. No prior warning, no formal inquiry, and no opportunity to respond was given before termination. Immediately upon termination, all system access and data were deleted (garden leave protocol), eliminating his ability to retain evidence.
2. Coordinated Cyberbullying Campaign (Indonesia/Singapore/Malaysia — AWS Accounts + ITB Community, September–October 2023): Within approximately one month of termination, a coordinated harassment campaign emerged across Twitter/X and the forum platform f/Publik. This campaign involved: (a) accounts displaying Amazon/AWS branding actively participating in public ridicule; (b) accounts badged with ITB's university logo amplifying harassment; (c) a viral thread that reached approximately 2.6 million views (documented in Rahmat's own message to Dian Hamama). Rahmat experienced this cyberbullying while present in Singapore and Malaysia during mental-health-related solo travel.
3. Institutional Defamation by ITB (Indonesia — ongoing): Confirmed by an active ITB student, Rahmat's name was embedded in the STI (Information Systems and Technology) Professional Ethics curriculum as a "bad attitude" example, spanning approximately 3 chapters, distributed to hundreds of students per cohort, repeated across multiple academic years without his knowledge or consent.
Combined impact: Loss of employment, destruction of professional network and career trajectory, bipolar affective disorder diagnosis, 1.5 years of social isolation, and ongoing psychological trauma. Recovery required approximately 2 years. Medical certificate dated May 13, 2026 documents: Bipolar Affective Disorder (depressive, manic, hypomanic), ADHD, and bilateral tinnitus.
Primary legal strategy: Indonesia is the natural and most strategic forum. All defendants are either Indonesian entities or Indonesian nationals. All effects of the harmful conduct were experienced in Indonesia. Singapore POHA and Malaysia CMA provide supplementary protection for the cyberbullying experienced during the victim's presence in those countries. The Singapore Employment Act does not apply — the victim entered Singapore on a 30-day visa-free tourist entry, not a work pass; the employment contract was with an Indonesian entity.

Evidence Registry
All 26 evidence files in actor/Amazon & ITB/screenshots/. Referenced below with their legal significance.
E-01: ITB Curriculum Confession (Primary Evidence)

Description: Direct message from an anonymous ITB student (identified as an STI student) stating: "sorry bgt pake akun bodong, aku anak sti juga. nama kakak udah lumayan jelek di if/sti. karna matkul keprofesian sti sekarang pun, hampir 3 bab bahas doang. Dijadikan contoh buruk ke kami sebagai mahasiswa untuk tidak memiliki etika dan attitude kayak kak rahmat.."
Translation: "Sorry for using an anonymous account, I'm also an STI student. Your name is already quite tarnished in IF/STI. Because the current STI Professional Ethics course, almost 3 chapters discuss it. You are used as a bad example for us as students for not having the ethics and attitude of Kak Rahmat."
Legal significance: This is direct eyewitness testimony from an active ITB student confirming the curriculum defamation. Constitutes evidence for KUHP Pasal 433 ayat (2) ("disiarkan" = disseminated to students), Pasal 434 (fitnah — false characterization), and KUH Perdata Pasal 1365/1372 (PMH by ITB).
E-02: Somasi Forum Post Reaction + IT Bandung Community

Description: Screenshot of a forum post about the Somasi sent to PT Amazon Web Services Indonesia. The reactions include comments from IT Bandung-badged accounts and Amazon-badged accounts, including from Rahmat Fabhian Aminuddin (IT Bandung / fabian), who wrote extensive commentary. The post shows the ongoing nature of the harassment even as of 2026.
Legal significance: Demonstrates continuing tortious conduct; each new comment constitutes fresh defamation under KUHP Pasal 433. The AWS-badged accounts' participation confirms corporate involvement.
E-03: Amazon AWsome — Primary Harassment Post (71 Likes)

Description: Amazon AWsome account (displaying Amazon's orange box logo) commenting on a post by user "rahasia123": "@rahasia123 Dude, self-centered sekali ya kamu. 'Saya dapat mencicil rumah disurga' & 'Jadi ladang dosa orang lain'. We don't need ayat-ayat from someone like you 🤢 Terimakasih sudah jadi contoh buruk dan sedikit hiburan buat kami semua. Stay stonk!"
Translation: "Thank you for being a bad example and a little entertainment for all of us."
This post received 71 likes on the f/Publik platform.
Legal significance: This is the single most damaging piece of evidence. An Amazon-branded account publicly mocked the victim, called him "entertainment," and dismissed his religious expression. 71 likes indicates wide amplification. Under KUHP Pasal 433(2), this written defamation is aggravated by the technology enhancement under Pasal 441. Under KUH Perdata Pasal 1367, Amazon bears vicarious liability for the use of a company-branded account. Under Singapore POHA Section 3, this was intentional harassment — and if Rahmat viewed this while in Singapore, full POHA jurisdiction applies.
E-04: Twitter Community Reaction — Threat of Police Action

Description: Twitter conversation (June 13, 2026) showing:
- Peb Ruswono Aryan (@pebaryan): "ada dosen yang disomasi?" (2.2K impressions)
- @lucacadalora (lucaxyzz, verified e/aiccelerate.id): "Dosen STEI wkwk" (2.3K impressions)
- waskita adijarto: "Berat ini urusannya" (1 like, 359 impressions)
- lucacadalora (lucaxyzz): "Saya wakilkan om buat semuanya, besok masuk LP di polda jabar" (135 views)
Translation of last message: "I will represent (fight for) everything, tomorrow I'll file a police report at Polda Jabar [West Java Regional Police]."
Legal significance: Shows continuing harassment and intimidation as recently as June 2026. The threat to "file a police report" against the victim appears designed to intimidate Rahmat from pursuing his legal case. If this constitutes an attempt to abuse the legal process to harass, it may itself constitute KUHP Pasal 335 (criminal coercion) or an abuse of process.
E-05: IT Bandung fabian — Extensive Personal Attack

Description: IT Bandung "fabian" account (Rahmat Fabhian Aminuddin, Solutions Architect @ AWS, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) posted a detailed, multi-paragraph attack on the victim:
"udah banyak dzikir dan kajian padahal ini orang, tp beneran deh tp beneran ini orang kayak kamu odgj... ga jago2 amat tp kayak org paling iye sedunia calo2 jomblo abadi... ga punya teman... ga sopan/rude... bentar lagi keabisan duit kalo ortu lo ga kaya tp kayak sih lumayan kaya... gaji freshgrad 2 digit diatas median IF/STI ITB diatas 15 juta, harusnya touch the grass dikit walau ga tinggi2, mungkin bangalore most pay di asia aja disana. Jujur lah bro, seenggak lah bro, seenggak lah keabisan temen2 lo ya seaneh dan bikin perkara kayak lo."
Translation includes: Calling victim "odgj" (orang dalam gangguan jiwa = mentally ill person), "calo2 jomblo abadi" (forever-alone scalper), "ga punya teman" (has no friends), "ga sopan/rude" (rude). Also discusses his salary and lifestyle judgmentally.
Legal significance: This is written defamation (pencemaran nama baik tertulis) under KUHP Pasal 433(2), elevated to fitnah (Pasal 434) given the false factual claims. The author is identified as Rahmat Fabhian Aminuddin, based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia — making him simultaneously subject to Malaysian law (CMA s.233) for conduct originating from Malaysia and Indonesian KUHP Pasal 4(c) for effects experienced in Indonesia. The "odgj" insult referencing mental illness constitutes aggravated defamation given the victim's subsequent bipolar disorder diagnosis.
E-06: IT Bandung Basim — Encouraging Spread + Self-Identified ITB Employee

Description: IT Bandung "Basim" account encouraging "ChickinMenang" to inform their group: "@ChickinMenang tolong teman seangkatannya diberi tahu" (please inform their batch-mates). When asked if they are a student, responds: "@ChickinMenang gw pegawai itebeh bang bukan student/alumni wkwk" (I'm an ITB employee, not a student).
Legal significance: An ITB employee (not a student) actively participated in coordinating the harassment campaign. This implicates ITB as an institution through the employee's conduct under KUH Perdata Pasal 1367 (vicarious liability of employer). The "itebeh" reference confirms institutional identity. This is arguably more serious than student participation.
E-07: Direct Threatening Private Message

Description: A private direct message (12:59 PM) from "deer..." stating:
"Hey loser. Gue alumni itb juga, seangkatan sama lo, we have been met since we are not even mutuals di itb, if i can speak about income, ketika lo di aws dengan gaji 27 juta itu thats only my 2 weeks payroll, youre not 'that person' bro. Udah sumpahin anak orang cacat dan autis lo, sheesh. Stop it bro, before we take action bersero paksa ke penjara, i have that power gue, gue gapernah muncul selama ini di forum manapun, just only talk to you. Remember the words, i have that power to force and find you. I own a company, business, my father is a absolute conglomerate too 😊"
Translation: Threatens to have the victim arrested, brags about wealth and connections, calls the victim's child "handicapped and autistic," and directly threatens: "I have that power to force and find you."
Legal significance: This is the most serious evidence of criminal intimidation in the case. This message constitutes:
- KUHP Pasal 335 (perbuatan tidak menyenangkan / criminal coercion): Threatening to use power/connections to imprison someone = criminal threat
- KUHP Pasal 369 (mengancam dengan kekerasan = threatening with violence or force)
- Singapore POHA Section 5 (causing fear of violence/provocation): If received while Rahmat was in Singapore, full POHA criminal exposure applies
- The reference to "sumpahin anak orang cacat dan autis" is also a separate insult/defamation claim (Pasal 436 KUHP — penghinaan ringan)
E-08: LinkedIn Evidence — AWS Promotion Post + Hostile Reactions

Description: Rahmat's LinkedIn post (as Associate Solutions Architect @ AWS, displaying the AWS logo) promoting the AWS Data Center Engineering Operation Trainee Program. Below the post, a comment in Indonesian says: "Yuk yang dari ITB UI UGM ITS sabi ini tuh bukan magang btw mirip MT dan salarynya lumayan banget" — and the reactions appear mocking given the context.
Legal significance: Establishes Rahmat's legitimate professional activity and good faith disclosure of his employer (which was the reason cited for his termination). The Medium article and this LinkedIn post both merely identify his employer — neither reveals confidential information. The termination reason was therefore disproportionate and potentially pretextual.
E-09: Dian Hamama LinkedIn Profile

Description: LinkedIn profile of Dian Hamama, identified as "Strategic Human Resources Business Partner | Data Center | Cloud Services | New Market and Country Expansion | Networks | Amazon Web Services (AWS) | Area DKI Jakarta | 500+ koneksi."
Legal significance: Confirms identity of the HR officer who executed the wrongful termination. Dian Hamama is the Indonesian HR representative who communicated the termination. Her seniority ("Strategic HR Business Partner") indicates this was an institutional decision, not an individual employee's action — supporting vicarious liability of PT Amazon Web Services Indonesia.
E-10: Rahmat Fabhian Aminuddin LinkedIn — Malaysia-Based AWS Employee

Description: LinkedIn profile of Rahmat Fabhian Aminuddin, identified as "Solutions Architect @ AWS | Amazon Web Services (AWS) | Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia | 500+ koneksi." About section: "Tech enthusiast, and currently a Solutions Architect at AWS. Looking forward to connect and learn from..."
Legal significance: Confirms that IT Bandung "fabian" (who authored the extensive personal attack in E-05) is a Malaysian-based AWS employee. This establishes:
- Malaysia CMA s.233 jurisdiction: Harassment originating from Malaysia by a Malaysia-based actor
- AWS vicarious liability in Malaysia: A Malaysia-based AWS employee used an ITB-badged forum account to harass a former AWS Indonesia employee — dual employer liability
- Cross-border coordination: Malaysia → Indonesia harassment chain confirms transnational campaign
E-11: Amazon AWsome — Full Post (71 Likes) Re-view

Description: Full view of the Amazon AWsome account harassment post: "@rahasia123 Dude, self-centered sekali ya kamu. 'Saya dapat mencicil rumah disurga' & 'Jadi ladang dosa orang lain'. We don't need ayat-ayat from someone like you 🤢 Terimakasih sudah jadi contoh buruk dan sedikit hiburan buat kami semua. Stay stonk!" — 71 likes, marked as "diedit" (edited).
Legal significance: The "(diedit)" notation means the post was subsequently edited, suggesting awareness of legal exposure. 71 likes on the f/Publik platform demonstrates substantial amplification of the defamatory statement.
E-12: Multi-Account Coordination on f/Publik

Description: Discussion thread on f/Publik showing IT Bandung "pecintawaitu2", Binar Academy "bukananaksultan", and IT Bandung "bang_bjrot" coordinating discussion about the AWS case. bang_bjrot states: "dia anak STI btw. Tapi kayaknya overall reaction HMIF juga udah pada capek/ngetawain dari jauh aja. If I recall correctly, dulu ada aja yang ngingetin dan coba 'ngebenerin', malah makin jadi sampe dicap hassad wkwkwk."
Legal significance: Demonstrates that the harassment was broad-based and involved multiple institutional communities (STI, HMIF, Binar Academy). The "hassad" accusation against anyone who tried to defend Rahmat shows silencing of dissent — evidencing premeditated coordinated defamation.
E-13: Amazon Bedrock — Public Callout Challenge

Description: Amazon Bedrock account (24 October 2023, marked "diedit") posting a public challenge to Rahmat:
"Udah lama gak buka Fomo, eh ada notif dari sini karena whole company mention 😂 Gw penasaran sih mat, coba lu bikin cerita yang lebih lengkap biar kita semua disini bisa paham kenapa kita semua harus ada dipihak lu, karena IMO sejauh ini belum ada argumen yang kuat kenapa kenapa kita semua harus care sama your side of the story. Even Murz aja not care about your side of story at all, tapi lebih worry sama domino effect because all of this mess you made. Please... Explain to us why should we care? Ok you have share why you dipecat, but can you share what you have done to prevent it? At least please trying to win our heart dude. Hope you can recover from this mess you made, jalan lu masih panjang."
Legal significance: An account displaying Amazon's branding ("Amazon Bedrock") sent this dismissive message. The phrase "whole company mention" suggests this was shared internally within Amazon/AWS — indicating awareness at the corporate level. The patronizing tone and framing ("this mess you made") constitutes defamation by attributing blame without factual basis. Marked as "diedit" again indicates subsequent awareness of legal risk.
E-14: Amazon WhySoSerious and Def8W8 — Additional Corporate Harassment

Description: Amazon-badged accounts WhySoSerious and Def8W8, plus account "DipecatAWS", and Python ID "jandakembang" discussing the case. WhySoSerious says: "Mat, kata gue mah mending perbanyak istighfar dan introspeksi diri aja dah" (you should just repent and reflect). Def8W8 agrees. DipecatAWS questions why Rahmat needs to apologize for being fired abroad.
Legal significance: Multiple additional Amazon-branded accounts participated in the harassment. The pattern — at least 5 distinct Amazon-branded accounts (AWsome, mkUldh, Bedrock, WhySoSerious, Def8W8) across multiple days — demonstrates systematic corporate-adjacent harassment, not isolated individual acts.
E-15: Legal Discussion Against Victim

Description: Forum discussion including DipecatAWS (NDER badge), Python ID "jandakembang", and Amazon WhySoSerious discussing what legal provisions could be used against Rahmat. jandakembang: "minta maafnya krn apadulu? Krn ente dipecat pas lagi ngerasain kerja di luar nagrek apa begimana?" WhySoSerious: "Mat, missal gini, lu gue undang ke rumah gue tapi ada syaratnya lu ga boleh nyalain TV di rumah gue... jangan gitu dong mat, yaudah gue usir. Eh lu tetep nyalain TV, yaudah gue usir. Kenapa lu harus minta maaf? Sampe sini paham kan?"
Legal significance: Demonstrates that Amazon-linked participants were actively using corporate reasoning ("you violated the rules, so you were rightfully fired") to justify the termination while simultaneously engaging in harassment. The TV metaphor trivializes the employment termination, suggesting the harassment was deliberate rather than incidental.
E-16: IT Bandung tebeh — McDonald's Encounter + Career Wishes

Description: IT Bandung "tebeh" reports seeing Rahmat at McDonald's Cipete: "just encounter him at mcd cipete, kasian mukanya keliatan super sad" (13 likes). Bukalapak "minyaktelon" responds: "@tebeh career suicide bgt ya anak itu" (6 likes). Amazon "mkUldh" responds: "@tebeh di mcd beli happy meals kah?" (7 likes).
Legal significance: This real-world sighting was immediately broadcast on the forum with mockery from an Amazon-branded account (mkUldh). The "happy meals" comment is a deliberate insult referencing Rahmat's perceived downfall from AWS employee to McDonald's patron. This constitutes KUHP Pasal 436 (penghinaan ringan = light insult) aggravated by Pasal 441 (technology enhancement). The reporting of his physical location without consent may also constitute a privacy violation.
E-17: Ecommurz — Amazon's Strict Communications Policy

Description: Ecommurz Instagram post (slide 5/6) by "diluc_marz / Murchies Associate": "FAANG (Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Netflix, Google) are well known to be the endgame for many working in tech. They also have strict policy on public communication, with Amazon being notorious for having a very strict public communications policy according to the Guardian."
Legal significance: Contextualizes the termination. Amazon's strict communications policy may explain why the termination was triggered by a Medium article. However, this does not justify dismissal without proper inquiry — the proportionality test under Indonesian labor law requires that the punishment fit the violation. A Medium article mentioning a job title is minor and correctable; summary termination without inquiry is disproportionate.
E-18: Official Termination Letter — PT Amazon Web Services Indonesia

Description: Official letter on PT Amazon Web Services Indonesia letterhead:
Key contents:
- Date: Jakarta, September 14th, 2023
- To: Rahmat Wibowo, CK1 No. 9, ,
- Subject: Termination of your employment
- Probation period: Three (3) months from August 7, 2022 [note: likely 2023], scheduled to end November 8, 2023
- Reason: "Performance has not improved to a satisfactory standard on a number of occasions"
- Termination date: September 22, 2023
- Payment: Base salary paid to Termination Date + accrued but untaken annual leave + signing bonus
- Claims: Amazon claims "no further obligations of any kind whatsoever" and "no agreement or arrangement under which Amazon has or will have any obligation, financial or otherwise"
Legal significance: This is the primary documentary evidence of the wrongful termination. Critical observations:
- The probation period was 3 months (ending November 8, 2023) — termination at 1.5 months (half of probation) without the full probation assessment period
- Reason: "performance has not improved" — but the primary cited issue was a Medium article about job title, not documented performance failures
- The letter was sent to Rahmat's Jakarta/Bekasi address, confirming the employment was Indonesian
- The termination was executed by PT Amazon Web Services Indonesia (Indonesian entity) — confirming Indonesian labor law jurisdiction
- The broad disclaimer ("no further obligations of any kind whatsoever") was signed under possible duress given Rahmat's mental health state at the time
E-19: Rahmat's WhatsApp to Dian Hamama — Post-Termination Distress

Description: WhatsApp message from Rahmat to HR Manager Dian Hamama (September 27, 2023 — 5 days after effective termination):
"Dear Dian, I just got hate speech in twitter and was blacklisted from getting jobs in Indonesia. The thread is getting 2.6 million views. It is really broke my reputation. It's because it was fabhian because all of his allies in my uni along with him always talks bad about me in the back telling others that broke my reputation. I need your help and huaia also HR from Indonesia to cek all of his messages to his friends. This is really making bad impression to both me and AWS. Hope we can fix this soon as possible. We will fix AWS reputation in Indonesia."
Legal significance: This message establishes critical evidentiary elements:
- 2.6 million view thread — documents the viral scale of harassment
- Blacklisted from getting jobs — documents economic harm
- Names "fabhian" — directly identifies Rahmat Fabhian Aminuddin as the primary instigator
- Amazon HR was aware — sending this to Dian Hamama put Amazon HR on notice of the harassment by their branded accounts and employee "fabhian". Their failure to act creates additional liability
- Date establishes causal chain: termination (Sept 22) → harassment explosion → Rahmat's mental collapse → bipolar disorder onset
E-20: Medical Certificate — Bipolar Affective Disorder Diagnosis

Description: Medical certificate dated May 13, 2026, issued for Rahmat Wibowo (born October 13, 2001), confirming following diagnoses from clinical evaluation:
- Bipolar Affective Disorder (depressive, manic, and hypomanic episodes)
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Bilateral tinnitus
Current medications listed (Aripiprazole, Proliper — antipsychotic/mood stabilizer medications). Patient status at evaluation date: FIT TO WORK.
Legal significance: This is the central medical evidence in the case. It establishes:
- A clinically documented psychiatric injury (bipolar affective disorder is a recognized psychiatric illness, not mere distress)
- Confirmed diagnoses from a registered physician/psychiatrist
- The FIT TO WORK status demonstrates recovery capacity and ability to pursue legal proceedings
- The medications prescribed (antipsychotics/mood stabilizers) indicate ongoing treatment need
- Under KUH Perdata Pasal 1365, causation between the harassment campaign and the psychiatric injury can be argued (November 2023 termination → viral harassment → isolation → bipolar diagnosis)
E-21: f/Publik — IT Bandung tebeh, Bukalapak, Amazon mkUldh (Extended View)

Description: Continuation of the McDonald's encounter thread on f/Publik (September 27-28, 2023). IT Bandung tebeh: "gajadi kasian deng, td liat post sosmed ig nya, sama sekali ga nyesel dan malah pengen buat temennya DO atau dipecat juga" (26 likes). Bukalapak minyaktelon: "@tebeh career suicide bgt ya anak itu" (6 likes). Amazon mkUldh: "@tebeh di mcd beli happy meals kah?" (7 likes).
Legal significance: The tebeh post expressing desire to get Rahmat's friends fired ("pengen buat temennya DO atau dipecat juga") constitutes additional evidence of bad-faith harassment beyond mere discussion. 26 likes indicates substantial community endorsement of the harmful sentiment.
E-22: f/Publik — IT Bandung meoweng and Others

Description: IT Bandung meoweng (September 24, 2023) expressing regret about not getting an AWS referral from Rahmat: "Damn... mana gw sempat minta referral dari doi ke aws." Also includes responses from "ajakebonawi" and a deleted user comment.
Legal significance: Demonstrates that some community members were also exploiting the situation for personal calculation (regretting missing an opportunity), while others expressed sympathy. The deleted user comment likely contained more extreme content that the user removed — consistent with the pattern of evidence destruction noted in the case.
E-23: f/Publik — rahasia123 (Rahmat's Own Post) + Community Attacks

Description: User "rahasia123" (identifiable as Rahmat from context) posted a reflective, religious response referencing QS Al Hujurat ayat 12, seeking peace and asking for understanding.
Legal significance: This demonstrates that the harassment extended to attacking the victim's religious expressions. The response from "GovTech Edu 0x45fe2a" (13 likes): "@rahasia123 mangkanya bro, apa2 ndausah dibikin konten lah, tolol dan blunder sendiri kan~" — the "GovTech Edu"-badged account calling him "tolol" (stupid) and engaging in harassment adds another institutional-adjacent party to the defendant pool.
E-24: f/Publik — Victim's Plea for Peace

Description: "rahasia123" (Rahmat) posting a sincere religious reflection from QS Al Hujurat 12 asking harassers to stop. IT Bandung hythere responds with an extensive accusation that Rahmat's removal of ITB from his LinkedIn profile was insufficient, and that he should have considered the "domino effect" on his classmates.
Legal significance: Shows the systematic pattern of the harassment: no matter what the victim did (apologize, reflect, remove LinkedIn details), the community continued attacking. The persistence of the harassment over weeks demonstrates KUHP Pasal 7 (stalking / course of conduct) elements under Singapore law framework, and confirms that this was a coordinated campaign rather than spontaneous reactions.
E-25 & E-26: Additional Screen Recording Evidence

Duplicate screen recording file — preserved for evidentiary completeness.
Legal Framework: Indonesia (Primary Jurisdiction)
1. KUHP (UU Nomor 1 Tahun 2023) — Criminal Law

Pasal 433 — Pencemaran Nama Baik (Defamation)
Application: All online posts on f/Publik and Twitter/X constitute "tulisan yang disiarkan" (disseminated writing) under Pasal 433(2). Maximum: 18 months imprisonment per defendant.
Elucidation note: The official elucidation of Pasal 433 confirms the offense targets individual persons ("orang perseorangan"), directly supporting Rahmat's standing as the named individual victim.
Pasal 434 — Fitnah (Slander / Aggravated Defamation)
Application: The characterization of Rahmat as having "bad attitude" lacking ethics (in ITB's curriculum) and as a "bad example for humanity" (in forum posts) are assertions of fact. When defendants are challenged to prove these claims and cannot, Pasal 434 applies. Maximum: 3 years imprisonment.
Pasal 436 — Penghinaan Ringan (Light Insult)
"Penghinaan yang tidak bersifat pencemaran atau pencemaran tertulis yang dilakukan terhadap orang lain baik Di Muka Umum dengan lisan atau tulisan, maupun di muka orang yang dihina tersebut secara lisan atau dengan perbuatan atau dengan tulisan yang dikirimkan atau diterimakan kepadanya, dipidana karena penghinaan ringan..."
Application: Personal insults such as "odgj" (mentally ill), "career suicide," "happy meals kah?", and "Hey loser" from the private DM are covered by Pasal 436. Maximum: 6 months or denda kategori II.
Application: All forum posts, Twitter/X posts, private DMs, and messaging app communications are conducted via information technology. ALL penalties above are automatically increased by 1/3. Therefore:
- Pasal 433(2) with Pasal 441: up to 24 months (18 months × 4/3)
- Pasal 434 with Pasal 441: up to 4 years (3 years × 4/3)
Pasal 335 — Criminal Coercion / Intimidation
Perbuatan tidak menyenangkan / ancaman kekerasan terhadap seseorang.
Application: The private DM threat ("I have that power to force and find you") combined with threats to use legal/police power to harass constitutes criminal coercion under Pasal 335. Maximum: 1 year imprisonment.
Pasal 440 — Delik Aduan (Complaint-Based Prosecution)
"Tindak Pidana sebagaimana dimaksud dalam Pasal 433, Pasal 434, dan Pasal 436 sampai dengan Pasal 438 tidak dituntut, jika tidak ada pengaduan dari Korban Tindak Pidana."
Critical procedural note: Prosecution under Pasal 433, 434, and 436 REQUIRES a formal complaint (laporan/pengaduan) from the victim. This complaint should be filed at Bareskrim Polri or the nearest Polres.
2. KUH Perdata — Civil Law
All texts verified from references/KUH_Perdata.pdf.
Pasal 1365 — Perbuatan Melawan Hukum (PMH)
"Tiap perbuatan yang melanggar hukum dan membawa kerugian kepada orang lain, mewajibkan orang yang menimbulkan kerugian itu karena kesalahannya untuk menggantikan kerugian tersebut."
The four PMH elements satisfied:
| Element | Application |
|---|---|
| Unlawful act | Defamation, harassment, unauthorized curriculum use, wrongful termination |
| Fault | Deliberate — each defendant made a conscious choice to post/teach/terminate |
| Causation | Direct causal chain: termination → viral harassment → career collapse → bipolar disorder → 1.5 years isolation |
| Damage | Career losses, medical costs, psychiatric injury, loss of earning capacity, reputational destruction |
Pasal 1366 — Liability for Negligence
"Setiap orang bertanggung jawab, bukan hanya atas kerugian yang disebabkan perbuatannya, melainkan juga atas kerugian yang disebabkan kelalaian atau kesembronoannya."
Application: Even if any defendant argues they did not intend harm, their negligent failure to foresee the consequences makes them liable.
Pasal 1367 — Vicarious Liability (Employer/Institution)
"...Majikan dan orang yang mengangkat orang lain untuk mewakili urusan-urusan mereka, bertanggung jawab atas kerugian yang disebabkan oleh pelayan atau bawahan mereka dalam melakukan pekerjaan yang ditugaskan kepada orang-orang itu."
Application: PT Amazon Web Services Indonesia is vicariously liable for the conduct of AWS-branded accounts (AWsome, mkUldh, Bedrock, WhySoSerious, Def8W8). The use of corporate-branded accounts posting defamatory content makes this vicarious liability very strong — these were not anonymous accounts; they displayed Amazon's orange logo, creating apparent authority.
Similarly, ITB is vicariously liable for its employee (Basim, identified as an ITB employee) participating in the harassment (E-06).
Pasal 1372 — Civil Defamation Claim for Damages + Reputation Restoration
"Tuntutan perdata tentang hal penghinaan diajukan untuk memperoleh penggantian kerugian serta pemulihan kehormatan dan nama baik. Dalam menilai satu sama lain, hakim harus memperhatikan kasar atau tidaknya penghinaan, begitu pula pangkat, kedudukan dan kemampuan kedua belah pihak dan keadaan."
The "kemampuan" provision is strategically critical: The judge must calibrate the ganti rugi to the financial capacity (kemampuan) of both parties. Against Amazon (global market cap ~USD 2 trillion) and ITB (a state university with substantial assets), this provision allows Indonesian judges to award significantly higher damages than against an individual defendant. The law explicitly directs this calibration.
Pasal 1373 — Declaratory and Remediation Relief
"Selain itu, orang yang dihina dapat menuntut pula supaya dalam putusan juga dinyatakan bahwa perbuatan yang telah dilakukan adalah perbuatan memfitnah."
Application: The judgment can include a declaration that ITB's curriculum use and the forum posts constitute defamation (fitnah), and can order publication of the verdict at defendants' expense.
3. Indonesian Labor Law — UU Ketenagakerjaan
Primary statute: UU No. 13/2003 (UU Ketenagakerjaan) as amended by UU Cipta Kerja (UU No. 11/2020) and Government Regulation PP No. 35/2021.
Key violations:
- No formal inquiry (Pasal 156 jo. PP 35/2021): Termination during probation for alleged misconduct (Medium article) requires a proper investigation and opportunity to respond — neither was provided. This makes the termination "PHK tidak sah" (unlawful termination).
- Disproportionate cause: Publishing a Medium article mentioning "Associate Solutions Architect @AWS" — a correctable minor disclosure — does not meet the threshold of misconduct justifying immediate termination without warning.
- Garden leave protocol abuse: Immediate data deletion upon termination during probation may constitute evidence destruction if the termination is later litigated.
- Forum: Pengadilan Hubungan Industrial (PHI) has mandatory jurisdiction over employment disputes.
Legal Framework: Singapore (POHA — Cyberbullying)
Applicable where: Any online harassment received by Rahmat while physically present in Singapore during his tourist visits (2023-2024). Singapore POHA applies to all persons in Singapore regardless of nationality or visa type. Physical presence at time of harm = POHA jurisdiction.
Note: Singapore Employment Act does NOT apply — Rahmat was on 30-day visa-free tourist entry, not a work pass. ECT jurisdiction requires a "relevant work pass." The employment claim rests with Indonesian law.
Protection from Harassment Act (POHA) 2014 (Amended 2019 & 2021)
| Section | Offence | Penalty (1st Offence) | Application |
|---|---|---|---|
| s.3 | Intentional harassment, alarm, or distress via any communication | SGD 5,000 fine + 6 months imprisonment | Amazon AWsome's "Thank you for being bad entertainment" post — clearly intentional |
| s.4 | Harassment likely to cause alarm/distress (no intent required) | SGD 5,000 fine | All other harassing posts when Rahmat was in Singapore |
| s.5 | Fear of violence / provocation | SGD 5,000 + 12 months imprisonment | Private DM: "I have that power to force and find you" |
| s.7 | Unlawful stalking (course of conduct over time) | SGD 5,000 + 12 months imprisonment | Weeks-long coordinated harassment campaign = course of conduct |
| s.15B | False statement order against publisher | Court order to correct/takedown | False "bad attitude" characterizations |
| s.15C | Disable access order against platform | Court order to platform | Takedown of defamatory content on Twitter/X and f/Publik |
Corporate liability (POHA 2019 Amendment): Companies can be directly liable under POHA. Amazon-branded accounts = direct corporate harassment liability. The Protection from Harassment Court (PHC) can issue Protection Orders against corporate entities.
Relief available:
- Expedited Protection Order (EPO): within 48-72 hours of filing
- Full Protection Order: within 4 weeks
- Civil damages in PHC (no cap for full-track proceedings)
- Content takedown orders (s.15C)
- False statement correction orders (s.15B)
Legal Framework: Malaysia (CMA — Cyberbullying)
Applicable where: Any online harassment received by Rahmat while physically present in Malaysia during his tourist visits (2023-2024). Key additional fact: Rahmat Fabhian Aminuddin (IT Bandung fabian, E-05/E-10) is a Malaysia-based AWS Solutions Architect — his posts originated from Malaysia, adding a second basis for Malaysian jurisdiction.
Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (CMA) — Section 233 (as amended February 2025)
Offence: Making, creating, or transmitting communications that are obscene, false, menacing, or grossly offensive (post-2025 amendment) with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass.
Penalties (post-2025 amendment):
- Standard: RM 500,000 fine + 2 years imprisonment
- Continuing offence: RM 5,000 per day after conviction
- Aggravated (grossly offensive content): RM 1,000,000 + 10 years imprisonment
Application: The personal attack post by Rahmat Fabhian Aminuddin (calling victim "odgj," making salary comparisons to ridicule, extensive personal insults) while based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, constitutes grossly offensive content under CMA s.233. His Malaysia-based AWS employment makes Amazon potentially vicariously liable under Malaysian tort law.
Filing: Police report at any Malaysian police station + MCMC complaint at aduan.skmm.gov.my
Malaysia Penal Code Sections 499-500 & Section 507D (2024 Amendment)
- s.500: Criminal defamation — 2 years imprisonment + fine
- s.507D (new, 2024): Cyberbullying offence — threatening, insulting, defamatory words with intent to provoke — 1 year imprisonment + fine
Malaysia Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA Malaysia, amended 2024)
If any curriculum materials referencing Rahmat were shared with Malaysian-based students or through Malaysian platforms, Malaysian PDPA applies: RM 1,000,000 fine + 3 years imprisonment for unauthorized processing of personal data.
Cross-Jurisdiction Analysis
Which Forum Is Most Strategic?
| Claim | Best Forum | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Wrongful termination | Indonesia (PHI) | PT AWS Indonesia is Indonesian entity; Indonesian labor law governs; mandatory PHI jurisdiction |
| Online defamation (KUHP) | Indonesia (PN / Bareskrim) | Defendants are Indonesian; effects entirely in Indonesia; KUHP Pasal 4(c) confirms territorial extension |
| Civil damages (KUH Perdata) | Indonesia (Pengadilan Negeri) | KUH Perdata 1365/1372 primary basis; Pasal 1372 "kemampuan" provision allows Amazon-scale damages |
| Cyberbullying in Singapore | Singapore (PHC) | POHA physical presence jurisdiction; Protection Orders + civil damages; corporate account liability under 2019 amendment |
| Cyberbullying from Malaysia | Malaysia (MCMC + Police) | Rahmat Fabhian Aminuddin is Malaysia-based; CMA s.233 applies to Malaysian-origin harassment |
| ITB institutional defamation | Indonesia (PN + Bareskrim) | ITB is Indonesian PTN-BH; civil and criminal claims at Indonesian courts |
Conflict of Laws Confirmed
Per detailed research:
- Employment contract: Governed by Indonesian law. The Spiliada natural forum test (adopted in Singapore) confirms Indonesia as primary forum — all parties, effects, and assets are in Indonesia.
- Defamation claims: Indonesian law governs. All connecting factors (defendants in Indonesia, harm in Indonesia, Indonesian professional community targeted) point to Indonesian law.
- Singapore EA does not apply: Confirmed by research — ECT jurisdiction requires a "relevant work pass." Tourist entry does not qualify.
- KUHP Pasal 4(c) provides Indonesian jurisdiction over the Singapore-communicated termination because all effects (loss of livelihood, psychiatric injury, social isolation) were experienced in Indonesia.
Defendant-by-Defendant Analysis
Defendant Group 1: PT Amazon Web Services Indonesia (Primary Corporate Defendant)
Legal exposure:
- UU Ketenagakerjaan: PHK tidak sah (unlawful termination) — no proper inquiry, pretextual reason
- KUH Perdata Pasal 1367: Vicarious liability for ALL AWS-branded account conduct (5+ accounts)
- KUHP Pasal 433(2)/441: Institutional harassment via branded accounts
- Notice of harassment: WhatsApp to Dian Hamama (E-19) put Amazon HR on notice of the harassment. Failure to act = separate negligence liability.
Strength of claim: VERY HIGH. The combination of wrongful termination + corporate-branded harassment + awareness without action creates a multi-layered liability profile. Amazon's deep pockets make this the highest-value claim. Under KUH Perdata Pasal 1372, the court must calibrate damages to Amazon's "kemampuan" (financial capacity).
Defendant Group 2: Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB)
Legal exposure:
- KUHP Pasal 433(2): Curriculum distribution to hundreds of students = "tulisan yang disiarkan"
- KUHP Pasal 434: Institutional validation of unproven "bad attitude" claims = fitnah
- KUHP Pasal 441: Distribution via LMS/digital files = +1/3 technology enhancement
- KUH Perdata Pasal 1365: PMH — unauthorized curriculum use causing ongoing reputational damage
- KUH Perdata Pasal 1367: Vicarious liability for ITB employee (Basim, E-06) who participated in harassment
- UU Pendidikan Tinggi Pasal 37: Violation of academic ethics
- UU PDP (UU 27/2022): Unauthorized processing of personal data in educational materials (if continued post-October 2024)
- KUHP Pasal 45-49: ITB as PTN-BH constitutes a "Korporasi" capable of institutional criminal liability
Strength of claim: VERY HIGH. This is the most uniquely damaging element — institutional defamation by a prestigious university validates and amplifies the harassment far beyond what individual online posts could achieve. Each new cohort receiving the curriculum restarts the limitation period.
URGENT: Limitation Period Risk — KUH Perdata Pasal 1380 limits the civil penghinaan claim to 1 year from the date of discovery. The criminal delik aduan under Pasal 440 also has a 6-month window. The Pasal 1365 PMH general claim survives longer, and if the curriculum is still in use in the 2025-2026 academic year, each new semester restarts the clock. Verify with current ITB students whether the curriculum still references Rahmat's name.
Defendant Group 3: AWS-Branded Forum Accounts (5 Accounts)
Amazon AWsome (71-like post), Amazon mkUldh ("happy meals"), Amazon Bedrock (public challenge), Amazon WhySoSerious, Amazon Def8W8.
Legal exposure:
- KUHP Pasal 433(2)/441: Written defamation via technology → up to 24 months each
- KUHP Pasal 434/441 (AWsome): "Contoh buruk dan hiburan" + 71 likes = fitnah → up to 4 years
- Singapore POHA s.3/s.4: If Rahmat viewed these posts while in Singapore
- Corporate liability (POHA 2019 + KUH Perdata 1367): Amazon liable for all these accounts
Defendant Group 4: ITB-Badged Community Accounts
IT Bandung tebeh, hythere, fabian (Rahmat Fabhian Aminuddin/Malaysia), meoweng.
Legal exposure:
- KUHP Pasal 433(2)/441: Each post is separate written defamation
- KUHP Pasal 334/434: fabian's "odgj" characterization is aggravated
- Malaysia CMA s.233: fabian is Malaysia-based; originating harassment from Malaysia
- KUH Perdata Pasal 1367: ITB vicarious liability for Basim (confirmed ITB employee, E-06)
Defendant Group 5: "deer..." (Private DM Threatening Actor)
Legal exposure:
- KUHP Pasal 335: Criminal coercion — "I have that power to force and find you"
- KUHP Pasal 369: Threatening force against person
- Singapore POHA s.5: Fear of violence — if received in Singapore, up to 12 months imprisonment under Singapore law
- KUHP Pasal 436: Insult — "Hey loser," "anak orang cacat dan autis"
- This defendant also claims to have "power to force" through legal abuse — potentially adding charges of abuse of process

- Mental health: Bipolar Affective Disorder (depressive, manic, hypomanic), ADHD, bilateral tinnitus — documented medical diagnosis
- Social functioning: 1.5 years of near-total social isolation
- Career trajectory: 2 years required to begin recovery; reputational damage from ITB curriculum persists
- International travel: Solo trips to Singapore, Malaysia, Batam in a dissociative state — documented in passport
Legal Rights
Under applicable Indonesian and international law, Rahmat has the right to:
- Ganti rugi materiil — compensation for all quantifiable financial losses
- Ganti rugi immateriil — compensation for non-economic harm (psychiatric injury, suffering, reputational loss)
- Pemulihan kehormatan dan nama baik (Pasal 1372 KUH Perdata) — active restoration of honor and reputation by court order

Strategic Legal Recommendations
Immediate Priority Actions (Time-Sensitive)
-
⚠️ File criminal complaint (delik aduan) immediately — Pasal 440 limits prosecution under Pasal 433/434/436 to 6 months from discovery. File at Bareskrim Polri Cybercrime unit against: (a) Amazon AWsome account, (b) IT Bandung fabian, (c) tebeh, (d) @sicupuh, and (e) "deer..." (private DM sender).
-
⚠️ Verify ITB curriculum status in 2025-2026 — If the curriculum still references Rahmat's name, each new semester creates a fresh limitation period and multiplies both damages and criminal liability. Obtain fresh student testimony from current cohorts.
-
⚠️ Confirm exact discovery date for ITB curriculum — The Pasal 1372 1-year limitation clock runs from the date Rahmat first learned of the curriculum use. The image.png DM from the anonymous ITB student should be dated to determine whether the Pasal 1372 civil claim is still within the limitation period.
Dual-Track Legal Strategy
Track A — Criminal (Bareskrim Polri + PHI):
- File pengaduan under KUHP Pasal 433/434/436/441/335 against all named individual defendants
- File PHK dispute at Pengadilan Hubungan Industrial (PHI) against PT AWS Indonesia
- File administrative complaint to Kemendikbudristek against ITB under UU Pendidikan Tinggi
Track B — Civil (Pengadilan Negeri):
- File gugatan PMH under KUH Perdata 1365/1367/1372 against PT AWS Indonesia, ITB, and key individual defendants
- Request putusan sela (interlocutory injunction) ordering ITB to immediately remove curriculum references
- Demand Pasal 1373 declaratory relief and public posting of judgment
Track C — Supplementary International:
- Singapore PHC: File POHA application for Protection Orders against any defendant who continues harassment and has Singapore connections; civil damages claim against Amazon Singapore entities
- Malaysia: File MCMC complaint and police report against Rahmat Fabhian Aminuddin under CMA s.233; civil defamation claim under Malaysian Defamation Act 1957
