Fernandito, Databricks Senior Solutions Engineer: The "Crab Mentality" Label and What I Can Show

Fernandito appears in my AWS essay with one line: "Part of The Crab Mentality Tech U Alumni". This post says plainly that the essay documents no incident involving him.

This article does not claim that Fernandito did anything wrong. It exists to say that a label of mine is an opinion and that I have shown nothing more.

This is my account and my opinion. It is not a finding by any court, regulator or employer. The full list is in the original essay.

Scope and identity note

  • Who: the person whose LinkedIn card reads "Fernandito .", Sr. Solutions Engineer at Databricks, Singapore. I give only the name as shown. I have no surname.
  • Sources: one LinkedIn screenshot and my hub essay.
  • Contact: I do not describe any message or meeting here.

What I observed

  1. My hub essay lists him with the label "Part of The Crab Mentality Tech U Alumni" and nothing else.
  2. The same essay mentions Databricks in a list of companies where I say I have professional issues. That does not tie this person to any issue.

Shown versus not shown: what Fernandito's public profile shows and what I cannot say

What the record shows

  • The profile card shows a name, a title, a city and an employer.
  • My label shows my opinion only.

What I cannot say

  • Any act, message or decision of his. None is documented.
  • That he knows me, or that he has had any part in anything that affected me.
  • That his employer or colleagues were involved.

Where I am probably wrong

I have given a label and no facts, which is not fair to him. If the label is wrong, I will remove it. I would rather publish nothing than let a slogan stand for conduct I cannot show.

Right of reply and correction policy

Fernandito is invited to send a response, correction or added context. A substantive response may be published alongside this article, subject to reasonable editing for privacy, safety and relevance. If reliable evidence shows that any factual statement here is wrong, or that the identification is mistaken, I will correct it promptly and note the change. Requests for removal of personal data will be considered in good faith.
