Rahmat Wibowo vs. Adityo Pratomo (@kotakmakan): A Cease-and-Desist Letter Over Public Comments

This post describes a somasi (formal cease-and-desist / legal notice) I sent to Adityo Pratomo, who posts on X (Twitter) as @kotakmakan, on 29 August 2026. A somasi is a demand letter, not a police report or a court filing — no criminal report has been filed and no court has ruled on anything described here. Sending a somasi is not a finding of guilt, and Adityo Pratomo has not had a chance to respond to this post. Everything below is my account of what happened and what I demanded in that letter. Where something is my interpretation rather than an established fact, I've tried to say so.
Background
In October 2023, I went through a dispute connected to my former employment. According to a public X thread by an account I did not control (@hrdbacot), that dispute was discussed publicly, and other accounts replied to it — including, according to my understanding, the account @kotakmakan.
I only came across these replies on 29 August 2026, roughly two years after they were posted. Because of that gap, I noted in my letter that I was acting as soon as I became aware of the content, not after a deliberate delay.
What I say the account posted
Based on screenshots I collected, the account @kotakmakan replied in that thread with comments including, as I read them: a statement that I was "making himself unemployable," a suggestion that I "check in" with a psychologist, a comment implying the company I had been in dispute with ("did the right thing"), and a comment suggesting I should move on because there were "still plenty of other options."
I identified the account holder as Adityo Pratomo, also known publicly as "Didit," based on his personal website and LinkedIn profile, which list him as a Senior Product Manager at GoPay Indonesia and an alumnus of Electrical Engineering at Institut Teknologi Bandung (2004–2008). I have not independently verified beyond that public information, and I note this identification in my own letter as based on that public matching, not on any admission from him.
In my letter, I described these comments as, in my view, an attack on my professional reputation and a mocking reference to my mental health, rather than genuine concern. I want to be clear that this is my characterization and my legal argument in a demand letter — not a court's or investigator's finding.
What I demanded
On 29 August 2026, I sent a formal somasi (Legal Notice No. 027/SOMASI/RW/VIII/2026) directly to Adityo Pratomo, with copies noted to GoPay Indonesia and the ITB Alumni Association (IA-ITB/ILUNI ITB), given his stated professional and alumni affiliations. I also sent a follow-up email summarizing the letter and attaching the full document in Indonesian and English.
In the letter, I asked him, within three calendar days (by 1 September 2026, 17:00 WIB), to:
- Delete the posts and replies I described above;
- Publish an open apology on the @kotakmakan account;
- Stop any further statements or publications that I believe could harm my reputation; and
- Pay immaterial damages of IDR 533,333,334, which I calculated in the letter as a multiple of the maximum fine available under the criminal provisions I cited.
In the letter I cited Indonesia's new Penal Code (Articles 433, 434, and 441, on defamation and its electronic-means enhancement) and the Civil Code (Articles 1365, 1366, and 1372, on unlawful acts), as the legal basis for my demands. I also offered, in the same letter, to resolve the matter amicably by email within that three-day window.
I want to be explicit here: citing these articles in a somasi is my own legal argument for why I believe the conduct could meet those elements — it is not a charge, an indictment, or a ruling. Whether any of it would actually be proven is something only an investigator, prosecutor, or court could determine, and none of that has happened here.
What I said would happen next
In the letter, I stated that if the demands were not met by the deadline, I intended to pursue further steps without additional notice: filing separate criminal reports over the conduct described, filing a civil lawsuit for damages, notifying GoPay Indonesia and the ITB Alumni Association directly, and publishing the somasi itself.
As of this writing, I am documenting only the somasi and the demand letter — I have not stated in this post that a criminal report has been filed or that any court proceeding is underway, because neither had happened at the time this letter was sent. If either changes, I intend to document that separately and update this record accordingly.
I'm not a lawyer, and this letter was drafted and sent by me personally, without legal counsel. I'm publishing this account because I believe it's a factual record of a legal notice I sent and the basis I gave for it, and because I believe documentation matters in a dispute like this.
