Undisclosed Fintech Payment Platform
AWS Optimisation & PCI-Compliant Infrastructure
The challenge
One of Southeast Asia's leading fintech companies was spending significantly more on AWS than necessary, with database and compute resources left over-provisioned from rapid growth. Deployment pipelines lacked automation, increasing the risk of human error in a PCI DSS-regulated environment. Serving users across Indonesia required low-latency infrastructure but the primary compute region was in AWS Oregon — far from end users.
Our solution
We conducted a full infrastructure audit and cut monthly AWS spend by USD $5,800 through rightsizing compute and database instances and eliminating waste. We designed and built battle-tested Terraform modules for Amazon RDS and Elasticache — eliminating 100% of manual provisioning toil and establishing us as the internal Terraform SME. To ensure compliance, we maintained PCI DSS posture throughout and contributed to an enterprise-level multi-region disaster recovery strategy with validated RTO/RPO metrics. We then executed a region migration from AWS Oregon to Jakarta and Singapore, achieving a 50% reduction in API latency for regional users.
Impact
- USD $5,800/month reduction in AWS spend through rightsizing and waste elimination
- 100% of manual provisioning toil eliminated via reusable Terraform modules for RDS and Elasticache
- 50% API latency reduction after migrating workloads to AWS Jakarta and Singapore regions
- PCI DSS compliance maintained across all infrastructure changes
- Multi-region DR strategy implemented with validated RTO/RPO metrics
- Established as internal Terraform SME, enabling faster and safer future deployments
